What You Can Expect Before, During, & After Circumcision

For newborn circumcisions - once you know the expected date of delivery of your son you can schedule an appointment for the circumcision.
For Jewish circumcisions - we will try to provide an 8th-day circumcision if at all possible.

For all other age groups - please schedule an appointment when you are ready.

Post Procedure
Parents of newborns and infants will receive an email prior to your appointment. Following the procedure, you will be shown how to change the diaper, detailed explanation about how to care for and support your son will also be discussed. For young boys, teens and adults - following your procedure, you will be shown how to care for yourself (if applicable) and change the dressings.
Please feel free to ask any questions. Following discharge, you will have access to our experienced staff to help guide you through the healing process.

Newborns & Infants

Swaddle your baby for the first 24 -48 hrs to avoid kicks which can be uncomfortable for him and provoke bleeding

Replace the gauze and Vaseline every 2 hours for the first 48 hrs, thereafter just apply Vaseline generously, feel free to use the Vaseline and gauze as long as you feel comfortable. Each time you change the gauze check for bleeding, your nurse will show you how to do this during your visit.

Do not worry about urine contamination of the gauze, however if there is stool contamination, please change the gauze, your nurse will demonstrate how to clean up following stool contamination.
